A Project for Your Church

Global Ministries regularly spotlights projects on our international fields, and invites UB churches and individuals to support these projects.

We don't want to be haphazard in our missions efforts. And we want to make sure that the needs we try to meet are the needs which our leaders overseas see as important. Sometimes work crews come home with new things THEY would like to see done, but which our overseas people are not necessarily asking for. We need to be more purposeful and strategic in how we use our funds and our time.

The Global Ministries Leadership Team is asking leaders in our overseas churches to develop well-defined project proposals. This forces them to spell out exactly what they would like done, and it enables us to count the cost more effectively. The GMLT reviews the project proposals, asking such questions as these:

  • Is this something the country or church could do for itself?
  • Is this project something we are doing "for them" or "with them"?
  • Will this project allow our US churches to become personally involved in missions, or will they just send a check?

Projects which the GMLT accepts are then passed on to the UB constituency. In some cases, a single church or conference may take on the project. In other cases, various churches or individuals may combine to fund a project. Some projects will involve construction, but many of them won't. But all of them will involve developing partnerships with United Brethren people in other cultures, working with them to extend God's Kingdom.

At the completion of a project, excess funds may be redesignated by Global Ministries for similar purposes in the same country or region.
