Youth Minister, Mount Pleasant Church
The Bible tells us to make sure that we don't merely listen to the Word of God, but also do what it says (James 1: 22). The students and adults of the Mount Pleasant Youth Ministry are doing just that, hoping to make a positive and eternal difference for Jesus Christ as they reach out to people in a distant land.
Our purpose as a youth ministry is to "Reach…Teach…and Unleash" students for the Lord. We are acting on this purpose. We are reaching out to those who need to know about Jesus, we are teaching them amazing truths from God's Word, and we are unleashing our own students and adults to do this ministry.
We would love to serve as a mentor group to help other youth ministries experience this amazing foreign ministry opportunity, and to help them develop their own partnership with another UB church in Mexico.

Mount Pleasant's Experience in Mexico
For the past two summers, our youth ministry has sponsored a trip to the heart of Mexico in an attempt to share the Good News with these precious people. During the week of Vacation Bible school in both years, we saw God do some things that were far bigger than we ever dreamed possible (Ephesians 3: 20-21). We saw the needs of these people, both spiritual and physical, and we felt like God wanted to continue using us.
Therefore, we developed a partnership with Centro Familiar Cristiano, a United Brethren church in the city of Valle De Santiago, Mexico. This partnership includes prayer support, financial support, and teaching support. We want to apply our God-given gifts and talents to a small church in Mexico and offer our love to a group of people who desperately need to know the love we offer--the precious and unconditional love of God.
This partnership has been beneficial, both for us and for the people of this Mexican church. Our people have been stretched and our faith has been tested as we depend totally on the Lord to meet our needs. We have seen many Mexican people give their life to the Lord and begin their very own relationship with Jesus Christ. In many ways, we have gone to be a blessing, but have returned home being the ones who were blessed.
But this work certainly is not completed. It's our hope and prayer that God will continue using us to impact the lives of those who need Jesus, and to help the students of our youth ministry and other youth ministries step out in faith and make a difference for the Lord; to be ambassadors for Jesus Christ and a light and a witness to those caught in darkness. |
