Honduras
Honduras Conference sets the pace for the entire denomination when it comes to outreach. During the 1990s, the number of churches increased from about 40 to 72. Since 1998, they started several new churches in the area of Copan, famous for its Mayan ruins, next to Guatemala. Today there are approximately 90 churches total in Honduras Conference.
Francisco Raudales serves as fulltime superintendent for this ministry, a position to which he was first elected in 1997.
The Bethel School (owned by Honduras Conference) in La Ceiba, founded in 1972, has grown to a 12-year school with several thousand students. There is also a secretarial school and evening classes for adults. The school, the conference church headquarters, a small bookstore, and the Bethel UB Church, are all located on a large property in eastern La Ceiba, next to the city stadium. In this last year, Bethel became the best high school marching band in Central America.
Honduras oversees mission work in El Salvador, and is very interested in assisting other UB work across Central America.
