2003 Missions Finances
Gary Dilley
February 2004
During 2003, direct giving to missionaries and special projects increased by $280,000. As a result, overall giving was up by $180,000 over the previous year, for a total income of $1.2 million.
Your investment has placed missionaries in some of the neediest places on earth, and you have also sacrificially given to specific projects and needs that God had placed on your heart. We could not name them all, but you have:
- Assisted with the needs of children all over the world.
- Planted new congregations among tribal Hindus in India.
- Helped volunteers use their time and resources in Jamaica and Macau.
- Trained pastors in preparation for service in several countries.
- Allowed our hospital in Mattru, Sierra Leone, to rise out of the ashes.
The year 2003 saw an increase in inquiries from individuals considering God's call into full time missionary service. Some are working through the process of becoming fulltime missionaries sent out by Global Ministries.
We have seen a growing interest in churches sending out short-term groups to allow members of their congregation to see through God's eyes. Global Ministries worked with 18 such teams last year.
We are also working diligently on training opportunities to help congregations see how they can work with God in brand new ways in his world. Eleven congregations involved themselves in this way.
I want to express our sincerest thanks for your partnership with Global Ministries. We hope we can be of meaningful service to you in 2004.
